Now Your Kids Can Create Apps!

Oh, how technology is advancing these days.  I believe the older generation is still trying to catch up with using email, but now Google is pushing the young generation to create Apps!  That’s right, Google has created technology that will allow school children (and anyone else that chooses) to create apps for their Android marketplace.  Let’s get ready for some of the wildest apps to hit the Android operating system.

Google has introduced App Inventor for their Android operating system.  This software enables users to visually create applications (apps) for the Android app marketplace and for their phones.  While this gives the average person the ability to create something that they would like to use, how will this affect people that actually build quality apps for a living?  The Android app marketplace is not as popular as Apple’s, but with the creation of all these new apps, then could it surpass the amount of apps that Google boasts?

The real question that I have is who will actually check these apps for quality before posting them in the markeplace?  With anyone and everyone having the ability to create apps, someone or some team should be responsible for keeping the junk out.  I understand Google’s intention for this, but have they looked at the future of this technology?  Giving anyone the abilty to create apps with ease can really backfire quickly if it is not regulated.

Now, I will give credit where credit is due.  Google and MIT have established a nice piece of software that will allow people to show their creative side.  There are many businesses and small companies that would love to publish apps, but never had the capital or know how to do so.  With the App Inventor, they now can bypass the hard stuff and just build something that works for them.  This will be the best part of the App Inventor.  I just want to make sure that Google understands that they need to control the quality of the marketplace or it will get out of hand.
