Does Your Company Use Retargeting?
As Businesses try to succeed online, most companies are trying to tap any and all resources for marketing online. What is your company doing in order to keep visitors coming to your website? Are they utilizing all marketing tactics like SEO, PPC, CPA, Affiliate Marketing, and More? The big question is are they Retargeting their visitors? This marketing tactic is not very well known in the marketing world for small and medium sized businesses, but it is used by large companies all of the time.
The basics of retargeting are as follows. You place some special code on your website from services like FetchBack or Retargeting.com. These companies offer retargeting as their main service to companies. Once you place this code on your website and a visitor comes in, they are tagged, like a cookie for your analytics software. FetchBack and other services have a large network of sites out there that they advertise on or have partnerships with. Most of these are large sites like CNN and many others, some in the millions. If the visitor to your website leaves your site and then goes to one of the sites in the network, then they see an ad for your company on that website. A lot of companies use this to leave exclusive offers for the retargeted customer. This has been proven a very effective method.
The reason why this works is because your customer might not have completed your goal, whether it be a sign-up or a sale, for any reason whatsoever. It could be that they didn’t like your price, or wanted to research more. This retargeting will then put your back in front of the customer and usually the cookie will continue to work for a couple of days depending on the company, so your customer will keep seeing your ads. This can help you push your marketing message to them at any point in their buying cycle. Doing this will greatly increase your conversion rate because the customer remembers your site and knows you have what they want.
There are many companies out there that do not have this type of marketing being used as of yet, but should really think about it. Most companies that utilize this type of software usually see a nice increase in sales and conversion rates. You have to be smart in order to keep the original visitor from going to a competitor to shop and Retargeting does just that. If the company that you work for or own is not using this strategy, then please check out it out as an effective method to boost sales.

We have used retargeting on our website with fantastic results. Some companies charge per click or per month, but I will say it was worth every penny. We had a 27% increase in sales once we implemented retargeting. It was a nice jump.
