The Network Neutrality Standoff
We are sure that most of you have heard about the heated debate in regards to Network Neutrality. If you have not heard it, the FCC is proposing rules that will prevent internet service providers (ISP’s) from transmitting certain web traffic compared to others. This is a big debate especially with the large amount of streaming videos and music that is out there. At this time, Most ISP do throttle speeds based on your usage and what you are doing. You also pay a price for the speed that you want.
The FCC, along with many large online based businesses, say that an open internet without throttling only enables innovation of the internet and its services. We do tend to agree with these statements, we can see where the ISP’s get their argument that it discourages competition. While there is plenty of competition in the service provider space, there needs to be a middle point where everyone is happy. We know that it is hard to achieve. We will keep you posted as the debate heats up along with McCain’s Internet Freedom Act that will probably not help anyone or anything.
Tell us what you think about Network Neutrality along with any solutions that will fix the issues or at least make most parties happy. We look forward to your opinions.
